Abstract
This paper reports a case study in the prototyping of a web application which generates data-driven graphics. This application called “DataMapper” allows us to make maps based on the public data easily. While data visualization is big phenomena on last decade, most of the software tools for visualization are still designed for only experts. “DataMapper”'s remote controller function allows users to choose data, arrange color sets and change methods for visualization on their smartphone. This application can be applied to various fields including creating graphic arts, supporting participatory workshops and developing educational programs for design students.
