Abstract
By analyzing the interpersonal and family relationship formed in Huayao tribe's traditional funeral clothing, this research is aimed at extracting its social roles. 174 funeral clothings from field investigations are categorized for the above mentioned purpose. It is revealed that (1) Funeral clothing can express the filial piety and strength the family relationship. (2) The burnt clothing reflect an attitude for marriage and death, they serve as a bond between the living and the deceased. (3) Shroud embodies is a media to build a harmonious interpersonal and family relationship.
