Abstract
We have been examining the possibility of creating the evacuation guidance signage unit using the LED for pedestrians in case of wide area disaster. Important requirement factors for signage are immediate recognition and visibility. We examined availability of the LED signage units that were set up on a sidewalk and passage between the buildings at the University from the viewpoint of an emergency notification and visibility. We suggest that combination of continuous lighting and blinking of green LEDs would be adequate for emergency notification and visibility.
