Abstract
Design studies in Japan have developed as one of the interdisciplinary studies in the last seventy years involving various sciences of natural, social, cultural and even engineering. However, one missing is the synchronic method of linguistic study which concerns the state of language at one time. Nevertheless, design studies may be safe to say haven't concerned with the state of design objects of products, graphics, spaces, and so on. This paper proposes a view point of study pointing out of the knowledge of the synchronic method and also reports some points obtained from questionnaire survey conducted to people from various cultural areas of the world.
