There has been a trend to introduce new digital fabrication equipment for product processing in small and medium enterprises, which has not used digital machine tools in the past. However, the utilization of digital fabrication devices is often limited to “processing”, and it means that the design process has not progressed from the past. The purpose of our group is considering the design process that utilizing digital fabrication from a meta-perspective and updating it. In this paper, we will show the progress of a practical example. Specifically, we will introduce the original research method called Action Design Research, which was used for this practice, and two considerations about the current design process.
