The authors have been studying how designers can get into the local community and design with their members. This approach can also be applied to university design classes. However, the COVID-19 disaster made it impossible for students to easily enter the local community. In addition, face-to-face lessons can no longer be conducted. We took this situation positively and planned a fully remote lesson. By using the "Planetary Exploration" metaphor, we were able to conduct lessons with a consistent concept from preparation to implementation and reflection, without having any face-to-face opportunities. The results of the students' fieldwork and the quality of the final results were high. We got some hints for designers to get involved in the local community on the premise of remote work.
