Fava Package Design Contributing to Regional Revitalization

Abstract

Minamiboso City is facing the problems of decreasing birthrate and aging population which lower the vitality of this area. In this project, we mainly focused on the food culture of Shirahama District, especially fava bean. To figure out the history and relationship between fava bean and local life, in addition to do literature research, design survey has been carried out several times. Based on local resources fava bean packages was designed. By interacting with local fava bean producers, the package will be improved and will be put into use experimentally in the future. Through this process, local resources can be rediscovered, reaffirmed, and reused, and it is expected to restore vitality to the region.
