Analysis of Guide Map for Zoo based on Subjective Impression about Experience at Zoo

Comparison between Evaluations by Map Creator and Zoo Visitor 2

Abstract

We proposed guide maps of Kanazawa Zoo for observation that focused on a specific theme in previous study. In this study, we analyzed the effects of guide maps on visitors’ experience at zoo by comparing subjective evaluations among map creators and zoo visitors using the "impression thermometer" which is an evaluation method based on visitor's impressions of elation, fulfillment, and difficulty. We showed that information on the maps could lead new discovery at Zoo, and that theme of the map could suggest to manner of observation of animals regardless of information on maps.
