Abstract

The purpose of this research is to clarify graphic elements in floor maps that facilitate wayfinding for everyone. In this study, floor map was designed and installed in the Design Library of Kyushu University. To evaluate this map, survey of wayfinding behavior and subjective evaluation were conducted on adults without disabilities and with intellectual disabilities. As a result, it was suggested “depth cueing: especially for stairs” was subjectively comprehensible element for both participants. It was also suggested that the location of signs and sign education were important for adults with intellectual disabilities in the independent wayfinding.
