Abstract

As part of rapid prototyping research in product design education, we are developing a series of prototyping processes in which a material extrusion 3D printer is used to print a generative shape model with PVA and finally replace the shape model with a metal material. In this paper, we proposed and verified a new method of creating a new mother mold (transfer mold) that incorporates mold formation by rubber coating, using the model printed with PVA as a prototype. As a result, it was confirmed that the model shape printed with PVA material can be replaced with a low-melting-point metal material by using five processes including the newly proposed mold making process with rubber coating.
