Considerations for Taxonomy and Practice of Research through Design

From the Perspective of Ontological Design

Abstract

Frayling proposed Research through Design as a method of design research in 1993. Since then, there have been various discussions, but the specificity of Research through Design as a research method is still ambiguous. In this study, we propose a new taxonomy of Research through Desing, focusing on the ontological nature of design. Then, we present a practical example of Research through Desing in the intersubjective paradigm.
