Abstract

In recent years, the role of design has become increasingly diverse and complex. People are surrounded by a vast array of products and services and inundated with information, making it extremely difficult to judge the value of design correctly. Therefore, dis-communication, such as ignorance and misunderstanding, is occurring in various areas. This paper reports on the implementation of a learning program to guide students and designers toward better design work. Based on the concept of 'design around us (e.g. Umwelt)', the lecture visualizes the various elements of design and their relationships and discusses them with all participants, thereby increasing design knowledge and empathy.
