Abstract

With the spread of mobile ordering and home delivery services, food can now be distributed without the people who make it and those who eat it face-to-face. Although these services are extremely convenient, they also have the potential to inhibit the spiritual and cultural relationships that occur through face-to-face interactions. The author was interested in the act of sharing ingredients and dishes between acquaintances. How are relationships between people formed and changed by these actions? I've had some opportunities that simulated a share ceremony and collected and analyzed examples of interactions between seven women. This paper examines the meaning of the small energies that operate behind the scenes of the relationships that the parties themselves create.
