Abstract

This study focuses on inlaid shell, a traditional lacquer craft in Yangzhou, Jiangsu Province, China. Based on interviews with craftsmen, gifters and users of inlaid shell, a stakeholder analysis of lacquerware, especially as a bride's gift, was conducted. The aim is to promote the inheritance and revitalization of the region's traditional lacquer craft culture. As a result, the inlaid shell jewelry box has been established as a symbolically significant item in Yangzhou's lacquer art and its unique wedding culture.
