Abstract

Death, as the inevitable conclusion of life, underscores the importance of cherishing each day. Throughout history, various cultures have embraced mortality, exemplified by concepts like the Buddhist "death-idea" and the Latin phrase "memento mori." Integrating this contemplation of death into our daily routines is crucial. Also, modern nuclear families and urbanization have made traditional mourning practices challenging to sustain. To address this, I propose "Karetatote, Ima" a space where bodies are composted, fostering both individual and collective mourning. Flowers grown from the compost symbolize individuals, fostering reflection and dialogue about death in society. This initiative aims to prompt discussions on death's significance in our lives.
