Abstract
AI technology is beginning to automate parts of the design process. In this study, the author reviews the changes that AI is bringing to business, and then expands on the existing discussion that compares designers to gardeners, in order to consider the role of designers in the age of AI. Specifically, the author considers three roles that are necessary for UX/UI designers: maintenance, soil improvement and worldview design. By examining these roles in a holistic way, the author clarifies the new responsibilities of UX/UI designers in the rapidly changing AI-driven environment.
