Abstract
This study aimed to develop pictograms for use in national youth facilities, focusing on gender issues and comprehension issues in pictograms. To this end, a comprehension and appropriateness survey was conducted on 22 pictograms for 106 people (37 elementary school students, 27 children with disabilities, and 42 foreigners). 12 of the 22 pictograms were the first-ranked pictograms being common in all categories. Others were adjusted by integrating historical resources and design concepts with the survey results.
