Abstract
This study aims to investigate the effects of colored pavement lines density on drivers' attention. The experiment compared 15 movies, and the results show that by adjusting the interrelationship among pavement design density, line width, and lane width, low density is most effective for a 6 meters road width. For a 4.5 meters road width, low density is effective only when using a finer line width. For a 9 meters road width, medium density is most effective, and by adjusting line width, low density can be equally effective. Moreover, designs yielding high fixation counts show a significantly balanced distribution of left-right fixations.
