The Main Gate Design Reconstruction of Yokohama University of Art and Design (YUAD)

Proposal concerning the design’s effect on environment, utility function and YUAD brand expression

Abstract

Following a relocation of the bus stop, Yokohama University of Art and Design reassigned its former south gate to function as its new main gate. The reconstruction project conceived an entirely new campus sign system to interface with the local community and incentivized the next phase of designing the university’s brand expression. In-campus survey conducted after the project completion was positive.
