Development and Evaluation of an Interactive Picture Book for Preschoolers: Promoting Experiential Learning of Nambu Ironware Craftsmanship

Abstract

We developed an Interactive Picture Book to teach preschoolers about the manufacturing process of Nambu ironware and the craftsmanship involved. The book features interactive elements illustrating the production stages and artisans' hand movements, based on literature and workshop visits. Interviews with craftsmen confirmed the accuracy of the depicted motions, and preschool trials demonstrated improved comprehension of the process. Based on these findings, we revised the book to enhance its effectiveness.
