Tools for Reducing Unused Medicine and Improving Medication Adherence

Facilitating Communication Between Pharmacists and Patients

Abstract

This study elucidated the issues between pharmacists and patients on unused medications and designed a tool to be used in pharmacies. The purpose is to elicit patients' concerns about unused medicine and medications, and to facilitate communication between pharmacists and patients. The validation showed good evaluations regarding patients' concerns about their medications and the promotion of communication. However, even with the tool, patients were found to be resistant to reporting their unused medications. Future research should be used in pharmacy.
