Abstract

In this study, it was found that university students had the impression of insect food (i) physically disgusting, (ii) difficult to handle, and (iii) recently popular new foods as images of insect food. Also, as an image of "insect food," "dark-bright" is very important in appearance evaluation, and the higher the average, the higher the "bad-good," so people think that what they eat is important to their taste. And we have a habit of saying what we're used to seeing because it's "rare-common" and "individual-common." This result revealed that people tend to prefer food that is familiar to food rather than heterogeneous food.
