Abstract

To mitigate injuries caused by the toppling of storage furniture during earthquakes, we explored the replacement of conventional wooden materials with alternative materials. The selected material is a green upcycled product made from repurposed discarded jute bags. To understand its properties, we conducted mechanical strength and bonding strength tests. The results showed that its strength was lower than that of wood composite. However, hardness measurements revealed that the material is softer than wood composite. Moving forward, we will explore ways to improve its strength and propose applications for storage furniture.
