Abstract

Since 2015, Akita Omoriyama Zoo and Akita University of Art have been collaboratively conducting art projects. By utilizing the power of art and design from Akita University of Art, the projects aim to create opportunities for visitors to engage with nature, the environment, plants and animals through various events and artworks that make use of the resources of Omoriyama Zoo and Omoriyama Park. The ultimate goal is to attract new visitors by positioning the zoo and the park as spaces for education and discovery. In 2024, the project continued with the design and installation of a parking guidance sign and a wall art project for the penguin exhibit. These outcomes of these collaborative projects are being presented to students from Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and Thailand.
