This paper explores the wisdom of everyday life through Doburoku based on interviews in S. Region, Akita Prefecture. The conclusions are as follows : (1) Doburoku, when combined with local ingredients, made it possible to create diverse meals at home. (2) As a food premised on sharing, Doburoku served as a medium for connecting people allowing them to share joys and sorrows with those they lived with. (3) As a ritual food offering handmade for deities and ancestors, Doburoku embodied people’s wishes for a “good life,” which were expressed through year-round ceremonial events.
