This study examines the structure and challenges of co-creation spaces across corporate, academic, and regional contexts. Although such spaces have expanded in response to complex societal issues, their effectiveness is limited by fragmented processes and unclear value creation mechanisms.
Based on qualitative analysis of interviews with operators of multiple co-creation sites, the study identifies three typologies: function-oriented, process-oriented, and ecosystem-oriented. It further proposes that co-creation is structured by three integrated layers—space, system, and relationship—and a multi-stage process from encounter to implementation.
The findings reveal that most co-creation spaces optimize only partial aspects of this structure, leading to disconnections between relationship building and value creation. This study redefines co-creation spaces as integrated systems that transform individual motivation into social value.
