Abstract

This paper extends the Dual Cycle Model (Oda et al., 2023) by proposing four translation structures within organizational value-creation cycles. Through qualitative analysis of a story-based workshop, we identify four meaning-reconstruction processes: translating managerial intent into field action, expertise into customer value, tacit knowledge among peers, and field insights into decision-making. We find that as organizations mature, standardization of the first two suppresses the latter two, eroding agency across the cycle. We then present hypotheses on how design capability may restore each translation structure.
