Abstract

This study examines a practice-based educational program in visual design through a craft beer product development project conducted in collaboration with local breweries. The program guided students through research, concept development, design, and commercialization. Three products were launched, and feedback from purchasers and participating students was collected. The results indicate that emotional concepts were more effectively communicated than complex conceptual structures. Student responses suggest that collaboration with real stakeholders and the experience of commercialization enhanced understanding of the design process. These findings demonstrate the effectiveness of a socially connected, project-based model for visual design education.
