The Cognitive Characteristics on the Environmental Direction of Participant for Experience : About Art Works on the ECHIGO-TSUMARI Art Triennial 2006

Abstract

This study clarifies the characteristics of Environmental Direction. The object was 4 types art work in ECHIGO-TSUMARI Art Triennial 2006. We used the 5 Perception Index 11 items and 7 Perception attributes for the 188 subjects; this was done with by Semantic Differential method. We are able to establish 3 factors, "Symbol-Change", "Situation-Recollection", and "Concept-Understanding". The result of each type of One-way ANOVA using factor score, it is similar in Architecture to Art type, and in Environment to Space type. Compared with factor scores for each distribution map, common perception characteristic to Environment and Space type is "Diffusive", and they are point symmetry with Architecture and Art type
