This paper analyzes present state and problem of snow and ice disaster prevention information system from the viewpoint of the inhabitant side for the Sapporo urban area in Hokkaido where disaster and confusion occurred by the fallen snow which is concentrated in winter, 1996. As a result of the analysis based on the questionnairing which was carried out to inhabitants of about 1200 households in three local governments, clarified main points are as follows :
1) Subjective anxiety of the inhabitant and degree of actual difficulty in the snow correspondence are affected by independent conditions of spatial characteristics of the district and degree of the aging, etc.
2) The disaster prevention information of heavy snowfall is considerably insufficient for inhabitants.
3) The insufficient sensation of information becomes a factor to amplify anxiety and difficulty of the inhabitants. It seems to be useful to attempt the substantiality of information of the fields that have relations with many items of anxiety and difficulty.
