Abstract
This paper describes the results of a content analysis of keywords extracted from educational documents. The technical procedure of the extraction and the results of the numerical analysis were reported in the prior paper (Nagano et al. 1981). A comparison of keywords appeared in three major fields, i.e., educational technology, educational psychology and educational research, reviels that the words are used peculiarly in each field. The extracted keywords were assessed from the viewpoint of their feasibility for the retrieval function of documents provided with descriptors for searching for them. The assessment shows that only 37.3 percent of the descriptors were coinside literally with the extracted keywords. Some descriptors were entirely absent from the list of keywords. This study concludes that the analysis of summaries of research paper is indispensable for the extraction of keywords effectively used in document retrieval.
