Abstract

The food waste recycling law was enforced in May 2001. This paper describes the profitability of capital investment far biogas power generation business using food waste under the law. In this study, the biogas power generation was selected first as the best technological system for recycling food waste. The business model concerning the power generation was then made on the basis of an environment analysis. Finally, the profitability of the capital investment in a real generation facilisy was estimated. Based on these approaches, it is concluded that a small scale biogas power generation is not only a good system from the viewpoint of sustainability, bat also a profitable system.
