Abstract
Four kinds of urinary diversion were performed in a total of 144 patients who have either invasive bladder cancer or acute renal failure due to urinary tract obstruction because of malignant tumor to the urinary tract. Ileal conduit performed in 56 patients, cutaneous ureterostomy in 68 patients, cystostomy in 12 patients and catheterization of ureter using interventional radiology in 4 patients. And quality of life(QOL)between the four kinds of urinary diversion was compared and discussed. Ileal conduit had little complication for a long period. Tubeless cutaneous ureterostomy showed good QOL but some cases needed α-typed pig tail ureteric catheter that was exchanged every 3 months or more. When ureteric stent was placed in patients with ureteric stenosis, they could enjoy their home life with normal micturition exchanging catheter every 3 to 6 months.
