Abstract
A mucoimplant is a rare and late complication of entero-stomas.Direct administration of a silver nitrate stick has been used for pathology. However,a lack of availability in Japan led us to treat a 77-year old man with a mucoimplant by cryo-therapy with liquid nitrogen. The patient had a recurrent rectal cancer and underwent a Hartmann's procedure and sigmoid colostomy on 29th August 2001 in our hospital.Seven months after this operation,a mucoimplant started near the stomal edge as a small erosion. The lesion gradually progressed to a skin eruption.A definite diagnosis was made by a pinching biopsy from this lesion. It was treated by cryo-therapy with liquid nitrogen, and was cured by a single treatment. This procedure may be considered a transportable, easy and useful modality
