This paper explains applications of object-oriented development methodologies to semantic Web, especially, ontology development using UML, an object-oriented modeling language. Concretely, this paper surveys techniques to describe ontologies in UML or its extensions and transform the descriptions to those written in DAML or OWL. This paper also mentions the issues of semantic Web development methodologies with object-orientation to be tackled in the future.
