In this study, we proposed a cooperative control method using right-turn lane and conducted simulation experiments, assuming that the vehicles are automatic connected vehicles which share the information about speed, position, and route. In the method, vehicles that are not in a conflict relationship can enter an intersection simultaneously, and the group of vehicles is called a "generation”. The generation is updated each time a vehicle enters the intersection. It is also possible for a vehicle to go straight out of the right-turn lane to accommodate different intersection inflow timing. Simulation experiments were conducted by varying the right/left turn rate of the traffic flow. The results showed the cooperative control was as efficient as or more efficient than signal control when the generation was updated and vehicles could proceed straight ahead from the right-turn lane. The results also showed that the efficiency tended to increase as the right/left turn rate increased.
