A Case of Atrial Premature Beats in the Horse

Abstract

Clinical and electrocardiographical observation was made on a case of artial premature beats in the racehorse. Arrhythmia was detected in the electrocardiographic examination after a race in which a filly had dropped out. In electrocardiograms, atrial premature beats frequently occurred in pairs or in groups. Atrial premature beats were almost completely prevented from occurring by treatment with propranolol. Discussion was made on electrocardiographical data obtained and their clinical significance.
