Abstract
This study was to clarify investigated the assessment of the“off the ball movements” on blocking in volleyball game. I considered that the ball games are consisted of two phase, which are “on the ball skills” and “off the ball movements”. Over the past many years a considerable number of studies have been made on assessment of the “on the ball skills” in volleyball game, however, no studies have ever tried to present for assessing of “off the ball movements” in it. The subjects were 8 male volleyball players (exclusion 1 libero player) at W university, that consisted of 498 attempts (5games, 18sets). “Off the ball movements” may be divided into 5 contents, which was composed of “Base position”, “Ready posture”, “Decision making 1”,“Decision making2 (the number of blockers)” and “Approach”. The results were summarized as follows: Skill execution and 5 contents was analyzed using multiple regression analysis. 1. In the Whole phase, it was recognized relation of “Skill execution” to 5 contents as multiple correlation(r=.715). 2. It was clarified that as these “Ready posture”, “Decision making 1”and“The number of blockers” developed higher quality, “Skill execution” became higher. 3. In the case of 1st tempo, it could state that “Skill execution” was influenced with “Decision making 1”and“The number of blockers”. 4. In the case of 2nd tempo, it could state that “Skill execution” was influenced with “Decision making 1”and“Approach”. 5. In the case of set play phase, it could state that “Skill execution” was influenced with “Base position”, “Decision making 1”and“The number of blockers”.
