Abstract
Due to the recent amendments of the Courses of Study for elementary school, soft volleyball, along with softball, is added to constitute a part of the ball game exercises.
Volleyball became a teaching material for the first time when the amendments of Physical Exercises Teaching Guidelines adopted volleyball as one of twelve ball games in May 27, 1926.
This paper is to describe the process and to search remaining problems of the introduction of volleyball style game into the guidelines in Japan for the first time after World War II.
