In recent years, brackish Lake Nakanoumi which is being converted into a fresh-water lake by reclaming is rapidly eutrophicated, and its waters are heavily polluted.
This study was performed special attention paid on the Yonago Embayment which is the most heavily polluted area in the Lake Nakanoumi waters, and the primary production was measured by the in situ method.
The environmental factors controlling the primary production were sought for by multiple regression analysis using the measured data.
For a water depth of 0.5m, the three variables, i, e., grobal solar radiation, chlorophyll-a and water temperature, were found to fit into the multiple regression equation, and a high multiple correlation coefficient (r=0.921) was obtained.
The total amount of the primary net production in 1982 in the Yonago Embayment area was also estimated.
