Abstract
The 21st century is called a century of the environment while the 20th century was a century of mass production, mass consumption, and mass waste. It is based on the centralized system to reduce the energy and cost. It has been thought that concentrated system to collect the waste in a large area has advantage for the cost in the recycling oriented society. However, it is also important to consider various changes and risks besides the cost. The adoption of the cellular manufacturing has increased instead of mass production with assembly line operation, which has a cost advantage, to correspond the change of production and various risks in production industries. In addition, the distributed system has been focused on the environmental impact like the reduction of CO2 emission to collect the waste. Therefore, the mass waste treatment in the centralized system is not always advantageous in the recycling system to construct the sustainable society. In this paper, it proposed compact/flexible/universal recycling system. It became clear which kinds of advantage this system has compare with the concentrated system in the recycling oriented society.
