Abstract
New type of support for aerobic waste water treatment is composed of an oxygen enrichiment hollow fiber membrane coverd with fibrous support for immobilizing microorganisms and condensed oxygen supplied from the interior keeps microorganisms vigorously active. It has been shown that the support bearing active sludge on the surface can treat waste water two to three times efficiently compared with the conventional active sludge method. Removal of BOD and denitrification have done simultaneously.
Durabirity of the new material has been satisfactory under the trial of about one year. Volume of plant and energy for treatment can reduced by the system.
