The Operational Experience of Symflo-D

Abstract

Recently, we have completed the modernization of No.4 paper machine, which was originally started in 1957. This paper machine is mainly producing fine paper and produces 220 tpd fine paper.
We remodeled the headbox for purpose of the quality improvement and the cost reduction.
The existing headbox was replaced with the new concept, the Symfio-D headbox (Dilution Headbox).
We aimed at improving the direction of the fiber in the desirable one as the fine paper in introducing this headbox.
This paper machine with Symflo-D was first installed in Japan. Then we achieved our aim according to expectation and are continuing operation favorably.
We report on the operational experience from start to now.
