Abstract
In this paper, computation of flow patterns in circular yarn ducts with various sizes was performed using the commercial CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) software package ANSYS CFX 10.0. Simulated results of similarly-enlarged interlacers showed good agreement with experimental data except for a strongly compressible flow region. Simulated results in a strongly compressible flow region were in rough agreement. And then, flow patterns in similarly-enlarged interlacers were exactly the same as those in the practical-size ones to validate the similar enlargement of the interlacer. It is useful to use the ANSYS CFX for calculating the flow patterns in yarn duct and to measure the flow patterns in similarly-enlarged interlacers. On the basis of the simulated results, moreover, effects of size of circular yarn duct of interlacer on flow patterns were clarified and the performance of interlacer was discussed.
