“Shittori” is a Japanese term defined as the sensation perceived with smooth, warm, and soft for a fabric. The “shittori” feeling for knitted fabrics with different stitch density was evaluated by the sensory evaluation of Japanese and Chinese. The mechanical, surface properties and air resistance, the maximum value of heat flux, qmax were measured by using the KES system. Then these results were analyzed in terms of the results obtained by sensory evaluation.
The stronger “shittori” sensation for fabrics was accompanied with the warm sensation. Subjects felt the stronger “shittori” feeling of knitted fabrics, which have larger value of stitch density in this study. The stronger “shittori” feeling of fabrics derived from large values of Air Resistance, MIU (coefficient of friction).
