Japanese and Chinese students evaluated the “shittori” feeling for knitted fabrics with different stitch density. In Hong Kong, we used the expression of “Baby’s skin” to explain “shittori” sensation. The mechanical, surface properties and air resistance, the maximum value of heat flux, qmax were measured by using the KES system. In Japan, subjects felt the stronger “shittori” feeling of knitted fabrics, which have larger value of stitch density in this study. The stronger “shittori” feeling of fabrics is also derived from fabric properties, such as the large values of MIU (coefficient of friction), B (bending rigidity), G (shear stiffness), 2HG (hysteresis of shear force at 0.5°of shear angle) and Air Resistance. In Hong Kong, subjects felt stronger “shittori” feeling for the smaller stitch density fabric. Also the stronger “shittori” feeling of students in Hong Kong was related to the small values of G, 2HG, B and 2HB (hysteresis of bending moment) of fabrics.
