A basic experiment has been made to develop a new, high-speed shuttleless loom. The method of experiment was to jet out a measured weft through the piercing hole of a carrier-The carrier was placed in a shooting barrel. The air in the barrel shot out the carrier into the shed. The weft was inserted in the shed while being squeezed through the hole of the carrier. The experiment has let to trial production of a new type of welt-inserting equipment.
