Abstract
The authors have conducted a collaborative class, entitled Logic, that combines Japanese language learning and mathematics education for approximately 100 pre-tertiary Korean undergraduates majoring in science and engineering, as part of the Japan-Korea Joint Program, from 2013 to 2019. After a flowchart model of the collaborative class was developed by Ota and Kikuchi (2014), propositions in question were translated into mathematical formulas using logical symbols and diagrams in the class, so as to grasp the whole image of the propositions, which were proved in written Japanese by reasoning with the diagrams, and finally translated again from the proved formulas into Japanese sentences. The article reports how the authors have improved the class throughout the development process, aiming to strengthen the logical reasoning of the students.
