Abstract
In this study, we attempted to examine the changes over time in the style of living in collective housing estates, such as public apartment houses, by investigating the population structure precisely and comparing with the past studies. This year, targeting Housing Corporation apartment houses, (1) We analyzed the population structure of these apartments in recent years through an examination of resident cards. (2) We analyzed mathematically the relationship between an organization of people living in these apartments and their site conditions. The leading results are as follows: (1) Family patterns at the time of moving in were recognized according to each category, rent or installment sale and type of house. Compared with the data 20 years ago, the population composition is remarkably older and diversified. (2) There has been an 11% decrease in the number of people per family, and a 4% decrease in the number of children. (3) Most of the families living in these apartments are four-member-families comprised of a couple and two children. (4) To know the influence of site condition, we tried cluster analysis with indexes of the population structure and the attributes of the family. As a result of it, we divided the capital area into 6 — 9 zones. (5) The site conditions showed a remarkable influence on both the population structure and the attribute of the family. (6) By multiple correlation analysis, we calculated the degree of influence as a fixed quantity. The degree of site influence on population structure is higher than that of the factors of rent or installment sale. The ratio of site influence degree to the factor of house-type is about 1/3 — 1/4.
