We treated postoperative respiratory insufficiency by oxygen therapy using intratracheal catheter in three dogs. They presented hypoxemia even in a oxygenated cage. One of the three dogs was treated as long as seven days, and all dogs recovered to normoxemia by inhalation of oxygen. They did not show any significant complications during and after oxygen therapy. These results indicate that oxygen therapy using by intratracheal catheter is valuable and safe for use in small dogs.
